Microblading/Ombre Podwer Brows

The more significant difference between the two eyebrow styling techniques is how the pigment is added to the skin. Both Microblading and Ombré shading are semi-permanent tattoos, but microblading is making short hair-like strokes. Ombré brows are a series of many fine dots that vary in concentration, giving the look of a powdered brow.

Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT IS MICROBLADING?

Microblading is a semi-permanent brow tattoo performed with a small handheld tool, using a feather stroke technique to produce the appearance of fuller eyebrows or to enhance the natural features of the face. Microblading is a softer/more subtle cosmetic tattoo than some of older methods. Body tattoos use ink while cosmetic tattoo procedures involve pigments. These pigments are designed to fade over time gently. Fading is desired as it allows the artist to make changes to color and shape over the years as client’s natural coloration and facial changes occur.

HOW LONG IS THE APPOINTMENT?

Two hours on average. During your appointment, we consult with you the entire time ensuring we are on the same page. Most of the time is spent measuring and drawing on a symmetrical set of brows and agreeing on your perfect shape and color. The actual procedure itself takes 30min to an hour. The touch-up appointment takes about an hour.

IS THE FOLLOW UP APPOINTMENT INCLUDED?

To ensure that the brows heal correctly, a minimum of two treatments are usually needed 6-10 weeks apart on average. This first touch-up is NOT included in the initial application cost. But necessary as it gives us the ability to correct any areas that possibly faded or allows the guest to make suggestions if they want adjustments with the shape or color.

HOW LONG DOES MICROBLADING LAST?

The treatment is considered semi-permanent and fades over time. Touch-ups are recommended every 1-2 years maintain shape, color, and detail. How often depends on several factors, including:- Skin type (oily skin fade faster)- Pigment color used (lighter colors fade faster)- Sun exposure (over time can cause fading and discoloration of the pigment)- Use of daily anti-aging products, e.g.- (Tretinoin (Retin-A) & Alpha Hydroxy). These products increase your cell turnover rate and shorten the life of your cosmetic tattoo

DOES IT HURT?

We do all that we can to ensure that the process is as comfortable as possible. Before the Microblading begins, a topical anesthetic is applied to the area to minimize discomfort, followed by a liquid anesthetic during the procedure. Some clients may feel slight discomfort, but it’s relatively pain-free for most. (PLEASE NOTE that if you are a frequent smoker, or have your appointment during your menstrual cycle, the pain level could be more intense.)

CAN I EXERCISE AFTER GETTING MICROBLADING?

You must avoid working out for 7 days following your microblading appointment. Light exercising is allowed (minimal sweating), but you must clean the tattooed area with lukewarm water as soon as you are done exercising. The salt in sweat fades the pigment very quickly and give poor results.

CAN I GET TATTOOED IF I AM PREGNANT?

As a precaution to avoid any complications, we do not perform cosmetic tattooing on pregnant women.

PRODUCTS AND EQUIPMENT

To ensure the highest quality of safety, all of our tools are one-time use only. ALL blades, hand tools, wipes, and any other product used during the procedure are disposed of as biohazardous waste after each appointment, giving each guest peace of mind.

WHAT SHOULD I DO BEFORE MY EYEBROW PROCEDURE?

  • If you have an ideal shape and color in mind, bring a few reference photos with you to your appointment.

  • You may fill in your eyebrows as you usually would so we can take into consideration the shape you desire.

  • If you regularly get your eyebrows shaped, waxed, threaded or tinted, please do so at least 3 days before your appointment.

  • If you have been on prescription Accutane in the past, you must wait at least one year before considering this procedure. You must stop using Retinol 2 weeks before your appointment and avoid using it for the 2 weeks following your appointment.

  • If you get Botox regularly, please get that done no later than 2 weeks before your appointment.

  • Avoid chemical peels at least 4 weeks before your appointment.

  • Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning for 2 weeks before and after your procedure.

  • Do not come to your appointment with a sunburn. In this case, email us at least 48 hours before your appointment to reschedule.

  • Avoid alcohol, caffeine, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E, or any blood-thinning medication 24 hours before your appointment.

Microblading AfterCare Instructions

Please follow these instructions for 14 days after the procedure to improve and prolong the results of your microblading. If you don’t follow these instructions, it can significantly affect your microblading results or put you at risk for infection, scarring, or loss of pigmentation!

Items you need immediately after the procedure:

- Antibacterial soap (in the pump) - Sterile gauze - Bottled water

Avoid getting anything on the brows, including water, except for cleansing as directed. Starting 30 minutes after your procedure, please gently blot your brows every hour until bedtime, using sterile gauze and a little bit of bottled/distilled water, to remove any excess lymph fluids. You can set the alarm on your phone to help remind you. The reminder is critical to minimize scabbing and allow for better pigment retention!

DAY 1

Cleansing: Right before bed, gently wash your brows with antibacterial soap. Use room temperature water to wet your brows lightly. Pump a small amount of soap onto your fingertips and make suds. You should no longer feel the soap, just the bubbles. Gently pat the bubbles on your brows for about 10 seconds. Splash rinse and pat dry with clean gauze or tissue.

Wait 10 minutes and apply a small amount of aftercare balm by tapping it on the brows with a clean Q-tip. If they look too saturated, use a tissue to blot the excess carefully.

DAY 2-14

Repeat this washing procedure, very gently every morning and night. If you have oily skin, use aftercare balm only after washing. If you have normal to dry skin, apply aftercare throughout the day as needed when brows feel dry. Do not overuse aftercare. Do not pick or rub the brows. The scabs/flakes must fall off on their own, or you risk removing the color and possibly scarring.

  • DO NOT get the brows wet other than washing. Do not soak the treated area in the bath, pool, or hot tub. For 30 days, refrain from swimming in salt water or chlorinated pools, saunas, hot yoga, steam rooms or sunbeds. Avoid hot, steamy showers.

  • DO NOT sweat for 10 days. This means no exercising or workouts.

  • DO NOT expose the treated area to direct sunlight. After healed (30 days), use a sunscreen to avoid fading from the sun.

  • DO NOT apply makeup to the brow area during the healing process. After the brows have healed (14 days, OR after the scab/skin flakes off) you may wear brow products if needed.

  • DO NOT sleep on your face, try to sleep on your back. No other products should touch the brows during healing, other than the soap and the aftercare balm.

  • Do not touch, rub, pick, or scratch your brows following treatment or during the healing process.

  • If your eyebrows get wet during the healing process, pat them dry with a clean tissue, DO NOT RUB.

  • Avoid using daily skincare products directly on the eyebrows.

  • Wait 4-6 weeks before having facials/peels. Please inform the therapist of the procedure you have had.

  • If you are scheduled o give blood after the microblading procedure, please inform your nurse about the microblading treatment.

  • If brows become painful, red or oozy, please see a physician. These symptoms could be signs of an infection. It is normal to be sore and red right after, but if it persists and gets worse, this is cause for concern.

  • Call or email your technician with any questions or concerns.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Initially, your brows appear more bold than usual. Over the next few days after the procedure, your brows may darken during the healing process. Darkening is normal, and this is not the way they look after healing. Around 7-14 days, you may notice some flaking/shedding of the skin near the brow area. Think of this is very small “scabs” falling off the skin now that the skin underneath has healed. You may feel they appear uneven at times because of this. When the skin flakes off, many times the microblading strokes appear very light, or sometimes it seems that they have disappeared. THIS IS NORMAL!

Because there is still a thick layer of protective, opaque skin, creating a veil over the pigment. Once you go through a skin cycle (4-6 weeks) the pigment reappears but with about 30-50% lighter than it was immediately after the procedure.
