Booking Appointments

When preparing for your neurotoxin appointment, keep the following guidelines in mind:

• Avoid aspirin, Advil, Motrin, or fish oil 7 days before your injection.

• Consult with your regular doctor before stopping any prescribed blood-thinning medications.

• Refrain from alcohol 24 hours prior to and 24 hours after receiving Botox or Dysport.

• You will not be able to lie down for 4 hours after injections, so schedule your appointment according to your sleep habits.

• Do not book facial treatments or massages on the same day.

After Your Injections

To ensure the best results and minimize side effects, follow these post-injection guidelines:

• Remain upright for 4 hours post-injection. You may recline but refrain from lying flat.

• Exaggerate facial expressions in the injected areas for 1 hour after injection.

• Avoid wearing a headband or hat across your forehead if you had injections in that area.

• Refrain from strenuous exercise for 24 hours following the injection. Walking or low-impact activities are fine.

• Do not massage or manipulate the injected areas for 24 hours. Washing your face and applying makeup is acceptable, but avoid using a Clarisonic facial cleaner or booking a facial, placing your face in a massage cradle, or lying face down on a chiropractor’s chair.

• Avoid taking ibuprofen, aspirin, fish oil supplements, or vitamin E for 24 hours post-injection.

• If bruising occurs, apply ice to the area for 15 minutes to reduce it.

• Headaches are a common side effect. You may use Tylenol, or if you have prescription headache medication, take it as directed by your doctor.

• Botox will gradually take effect over 7-10 days, with full results visible within 2 weeks. If this is your first injection, we recommend a follow-up appointment in 2 weeks.
