FOLAWNS MEDICAL SPA AND SALON

Laser Hair Removal

Comfortable, Permanent Hair Removal. Unlike traditional hair reduction devices that apply energy one pulse at a time, Forever Bare™ BBL uses motion technology to deliver a low fluence in multiple pulses, protecting the skin while progressively raising the follicle temperature to the optimal level for hair removal.

The Forever Bare Experience

Folawns Forever Bare laser hair removal uses light to target the melanin that lies in the hair follicle’s growth centers. From there, the light converts to heat to destroy the follicle at the source. Without its growth center, hair follicles can no longer grow in the treatment area(s).

No matter which device or provider you choose, multiple laser hair removal treatments are required simply because the treatment targets the active phase of the hair growth cycle. When hair is in the resting (telogen) phase, it can’t properly absorb light or generate enough heat to cause damage to the growth center.

As long as you follow your customized laser hair removal plan, you’ll enjoy long-lasting results. Believe it or not, laser hair removal is effective in eliminating 80 to 90% of hair within the treated areas. Even if you notice hair growing back, it is typically finer and less noticeable than it was before. For most people, that means there is no longer a need for daily shaving or even monthly waxing to achieve the ultimate silky smooth look. Laser hair removal is safe for most skin tones and hair textures.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does BBL hair removal work?

BBL is short for Broad Band Light. It is a treatment that removes hair through a process called photo-epilation. This is based on the principle of selective photothermolysis, where light energy is absorbed into the target hair follicles while sparing the surrounding, healthy skin tissue. While it is still a light source, BBL works differently than conventional laser systems. Instead, BBL systems use a broad light spectrum of light with wavelengths ranging from 590 to 1200 nm (green, yellow, orange, red and infrared). The wavelengths emit light energy in carefully timed pulses to maximise the effectiveness of the treatment.  At the same time decreases the risk of skin damage and minimise pain.

How is the procedure performed?

During the treatment, a gel is applied to the treatment area in order to focus the light energy and cool the top skin layer. A handheld device is then placed on the skin and the treatment begins. The light energy heats and damages the hair follicle, typically causing follicle to stop functioning. BBL technology allows your doctor provide a procedure that is gentle and non-invasive.

BBL systems can also be customised to your specific skin colour, hair colour and hair density. It can be used on a wide range of hair colours, from light brown to dark black hair. It also removes hair from all skin types. Complexions from porcelain white through olive to dark brown. Hair on most parts of the body can be treated, no matter how deep the follicles reside. Sensitive areas like the lips, ears, nose, underarms, and bikini line can usually be easily tolerated.

BBL can also treat very large areas at one time. Approximately 100 to 200 hairs can be treated with each flash of the light.  Larger patches of hair on the legs, back and chest can be treated quickly in a single session. It can also be used for small delicate areas as well. Because of the length of time associated with other hair removal treatments, BBL may be a fast way to achieve a hair-free look.

As with other laser procedures, multiple treatment sessions are typically required for long-lasting hair removal.

How often do I need to get hair removal treatments?

Typically a series of 3 to 6 treatments will produce a considerable amount of hair reduction in the treated area. However, the frequency of your treatment will depend on the speed at which your hair grows, in addition to the color and thickness of the hair. Your laser technician will be able to provide you with a comprehensive, custom hair removal plan during an initial consultation.

What does BBL hair removal feel like?

Forever BARE BBL™ is one of the most comfortable laser hair removal treatments on the market. During the procedure, the Forever Bare handpiece produces a warming, “prickly” sensation that most patients report as being quite comfortable, even without the use of a numbing agent. The warmth subsides within about an hour after treatment.

Does a Forever BARE BBL™ treatment include some of the other benefits of BBL?

In general, BroadBand Light provides a variety of benefits to the skin and can not only help significantly reduce unwanted hair, it can also improve the quality of the skin overall. That said, if your goal is to both reduce hair AND improve additional concerns like brown spots, red spots, or acne, we recommend discussing this with your provider. He or she may make recommendations for additional BBL treatments to help accomplish your long-term aesthetic goals.
